French Lop Rabbits
Believed to have been developed in the 19th century by crossing the English Lop with the Giant Pappillon, the ever popular French Lop made its appearance in the US in 1971. Though placid and relaxed in temperament, the French Lop is a massive, heavy boned rabbit with a strongly developed, wide and sturdy head. They typically weight in at 10-15lbs and are a wonderful meat breed, but we love them for their relaxed demenour that makes them amazing companions. They are a beautiful and majestic breed, and make a stunning presence on the show table. The goal on our farm is to raise healthy happy rabbits in the most natural environment possible. I have my rabbits in areas where they have access to lounge in the grass and sun with the ability to frolic like a wild bun but still with the protections to keep them safe from harm. (that said we do have a house bun "Lucky" who was just too cute not to have with us inside.)
